1
Welcome and news from WP PWIESpeakers: David Douai (CEA), Michael Reinhart (FZJ), Sebastijan Brezinsek (FZJ)
-
2
Overview of SP B and SP B.2 & SP B.3 in 2022Speaker: Antti Hakola (TEKES / VTT)
-
3
Erosion studies in MAGNUM-PSISpeaker: Thomas Morgan (Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research)
- Same set of slides as in 2021: focus on the role of impurities in W erosion --> confirming modelling predictions and to see how different mechanisms influence re-deposition
- Small target, surrounded by insulator with a high thermal conductivity --> measurements of witness plates (not directly facing the beam) and actual targets
- Experiments most likely in June 2022 (if no further delays), also including FIB marker cuts
-
4
Erosion studies in GyMSpeaker: Andrea Uccello (ENEA)
- Samples: W coatings on graphite and Si (with varying features by etching) + polished bulk W
- Experiments: 5 different ion energies at fixed He fluence --> data for modelling benchmarking
- Update: FIB samples ready, substrates with different features ready, deposition of W coatings to happen in March-April
- First results should be available already early summer; propose to apply "parallel strategy" so exposure of FIB markers and coatings in parallel
-
5
Erosion studies in PSI-2Speaker: Oleksandr Marchuk (FZJ)
- Recap of the different line shapes for W emission from W samples with varying crystallinity but no differences in erosion rates
- Modelling of the profiles still ongoing
- Plans for 2022: Ne vs. Ar comparison, require to some extent new manipulator to continue studies --> timescale to have new set of results by the time of the midterm meeting
-
6
Effective sputtering yields of W model systemsSpeaker: Christian Cupak
- Now focus on oriented samples (nano-columnar W, collaboration w/ UPM Madrid and Uni Helsinki) --> global reduction in sputtering rate seen
- Work started with Ar, next proceed to D
- Maybe extend the scope of the work to study also ENEA samples with various substrate features --> action on Christian and Andrea to organize a meeting
- Wolfgang: microstructure also important for erosion --> EBSD for orientation effects --> action on Christian to consider this
-
7
Hypervelocity dust impact investigationsSpeaker: Dr Marco De Angeli (ENEA-CNR Milan)
- Monodisperse dust impinging on target surfaces --> analysis of craters and making conclusions of their relevance for ITER
- Hypervelocity impact, plastic deformation and sticking --> mutual relevance of each of them
- Experiments almost done, analyses ongoing --> damage law to be extracted as well as estimates for erosion
-
8
Be and W dust formation during air and water leaksSpeaker: Dr Cristian Lungu
- Be dust production: basically milling happening at different conditions (air vs. water)
- Preliminary results shown
- W dust production: magnetron sputtering for creating the dust particles
- In 2022 influence of air leaks and humid Ar to be considered during the magnetron phase
- Action to report the results in a systematic manner + make AUG/JET comparison
- Be dust production: basically milling happening at different conditions (air vs. water)
