      Here we will go through and discuss the ongoing developments on different branches in the ets-core repository.

      Merged branches

      • quasi_neutral_sources: Add code-param to select if quasi-neutral sources are required.
      • summary: Bug fix; select time-slices from code-param; add nbi, ec_launcher, ic_antennas as input.
      • combine_core_profiles: New actor to that appends the fast particle profiles from H&CD actors.

      External updates

      • CHEASE code parameters: Options for poloidal griding
      • TCI: See code camp report from Par
      • Cyrano, StixRedist: New code parameters; new scheme for separating fast and thermal species and more, see Code Camp reports from Dirk and Ernesto.
      • hcd2core_profiles, fix compare ion species. 

      NOTE: Right now, Dmitriy, Thomas and Michal are debugging a problem mem-cache. Do not use mem-cache in IMAS right now.

      Action:

      • Add check that R0*B0 is conserved. We also need to decide where to add this check.

      Comparison of ETS-6 / TGLF and TGYRO / TGLF on DIII-D shot 180828 30m
      Speaker: Michele Romanelli (European Task Force on Integrated Tokamak Modelling)

      Michele showed preliminary results from ETS-6 modelling with TGLF and comparisons with TGYRO. The input shot file is:

      For modelling with a single species he was able to reproduce the character of the TGLF results by adjusting the transport in the pedestal region in ETS-6 - in TGLF an advanced pedestal model was used. The output shot file:

      For multiple species the ETS-6 did not find any equilibrium state, as the temperatures increased unboundedly with time. The output shot file:

      To be improve:

      • hard to read core_sources and core_transport in viz. Can we add the identifier/name in the source-list and model-list.
      • Problems with simpleCompareCoretransport and simpleCompareCoresources with DIII-D data.

      Comment from Alexei: Is the equipartition terms energy conserving? The answer is no, since the equipartition is partially implicit.

      Action:

      • Add diagnostic to measure the lack of power balance in the equipartition. How should this be used and stored? Can we add it as an error to be used in the iteration loop?

      I'm not sure it is a good idea to put the run_work as a parameter not changeable for ETS6.

      If for instance we want to execute 2 workflows at the same time, I guess it would crash.

      Any thoughts on this?
