General:
- Reduction of resources of the TSVVs for 2027 without informing the PIs is not a good practice, because the knowledge of the PIs do not fit the budgetary information the HRUs receive during the GA à information was stopped by EF Admin awaiting approval of the GA. Even if it did not materialize Xavier informs the PIs at his first meeting with the PIs (19/12/2025)
- The timeline for the AWP26-27 is as follows: GA approves on 22/01/2026; submitted to EC between till the 20/02/2026; EC evaluates the proposal within ~1 month by an independent panel; signature of the extension in May (worry: who is included in the independent panel)
- STAC sent comments on the AWP26-27, in their opinion Physics is underrepresented. Marco clarified that it is due to the fact, that a Transitional document is created that does not address much of Physics, since it does not change much. Gianfranco (John) will distribute the comments to all PLs/ TFLs.
- STAC made a comment, that each WP shall include a brief paragraph on impact. The reason is that the evaluation of the grant extension will be based on the criteria of i) excellence, ii) impact, iii) quality and efficiency of implementation.
- Final approval of the AWP, both scope and resources, will be on the 22nd January 2026, during the extraordinary meeting of the GA.
- The budget for the following few topics is explicitly endorsed: ENR; EEG/ ERG, JT-60SA exploitation
- Additional budget requests shall be collected and prioritized for the April 2026 GA for approval. Until October 2026 the underspending shall be analysed including DTT commitments, so that freed up resources could be assigned to additional work following the priorities defined in April.
- With WPTE JT-60SA exploitation resources shall be still mentioned as pending for 2027.
- Call for the JT-60SA Experimental Team Leader (dTFL for WPTE) is ongoing. The plan is to name Nicola as acting after the end of January (end of mandate of Jeronimo), select a new interim ET Leader, have the approval of the GA and let F4E inform QST about the nomination.
- Pilot plant A and B discussion is still ongoing.
- BEST: a small working group will be formed in January to discuss and decide which activities of the BEST research plan are essential or beneficial for EF, to be presented to GA in April.
- JT-60SA: the priorities of the program shall be revisited to see if it is still uptodate in the beginning of 2026.
- ITPA new membership was presented
- PB in March 2026: collect additional budget request and their priorities and present. PSD organises a meeting in the beginning of March (remote or in person) to discuss the input to the PB.
WPTM:
- the resources in 2027 were cut uniformly by 28% to be within the budget.
- E-TASC general meeting between 9-13/02/2026, all invited
- Xavier organises weekly team meetings with the PIs, where the representatives of the WPs are welcome
