      Strategy for hyper-diffusion

The solution in ETS-5 is work.

We are now ready to implement the same version in ETS-6.

      NOTE:

      • Jorge: Hyper-diffusion should not extend beyond the internal boundary.

Discussion on further developments on hyper-diffusion

      • Jorge: In the future we need to add the option to compensate hyper-diffusion with a source term
      • Jorge: Long term we should implement in side the solvers
      • Alexei: Check that source from hyper-diffusion are smaller than total sources.
      • Jorge: We should consider an implicit hyper-diffusion
      • Alexei proposed Hyper-convection, keep D/v constant.
        • Jorge: Yes, we need a smarter way to combine hyper-diffusion and hyper-convection.

      Active branches

Here we will go through and discuss the ongoing developments on different branches in the ets-core repository.

      Speaker: Thomas Jonsson

      New active branches

      None.

      Merged branches

      • sanitise - Fix errors in the input core_profiles IDS. Write a report on the errors found and the actions taken.
        • Comment from Jorge: should be added to Kepler multi-display tab
      • flux - Fix the normalisation of the transport-solver flux in the output core_transport IDS.

      Old active branches

      • IPramp - News from Jorge?
      • revise_impurity - News from Denis?
        • Comment from Alexei: Bundled ions states "would be very helpful"!
        • Response from Denis/Irena: The present plan is to solve for all state in the solver. We do consider using bundled states in our transport models.
      • pinchVelocityComments - testing strategy agreed with Dmitriy, but not yet tested.
