    • 1
Overview of SP B, SP B.2 and SP B.3 in 2023
Speaker: Antti Hakola (TEKES / VTT)
    • 2
Analyses of samples from AUG He experiments
Speakers: Dr Marcin Rasinski (FZJ), Martin Balden (IPP)
      • FZJ: efforts in 2023 will focus on further analyses of W fuzz and polished W samples & comparison with data from PSI-2 (under SP A)
        • TEM/EBSD will be used for further analyses of the fuzzy regions
        • Origin and characteristics of big bubbles to be clarified
        • Action on AH to arrange NRA measurements (B, C, D,...) of polished W samples with deposits and TOF-ERDA measurements for their He content (MPG, VTT, RBI)
      • MPG: efforts in 2023 will be continuation of the analyses of marker samples and the target tiles used in DIM-II & analysis of samples/tiles removed from AUG in 2022 (under SP B.3)
        • Action on AH to come up with a proposal of samples to be sent to micro-PIXE (RBI, potentially JSI)
        • Action on AH to arrange NRA and He measurements as above (MPG, VTT, RBI)
        • Idea put forward to compare pairs of samples in the same poloidal location (e.g., 1x1 and 5x5 mm2 samples) and identify if fuzz is being produced on the marker samples (MPG, VTT, RBI, potentially JSI)
      • Follow-up experiment proposed on AUG - study erosion/deposition profiles using identical structures in the 4 toroidally different positions
    • 3
Analyses of WEST C3, C4, and C5 marker tiles
      Speaker: Dr Mathilde Diez (CEA)
      • In 2023, emphasis on completing the analysis program of marker tiles (incl. C5) and the first set of monoblocks before IAEA FEC
      • Series of follow-up meetings needed
        • Meeting on ITER-like PFUs and their analysis plans --> already scheduled in 12 April
        • Meeting on the status of analyses of C4 samples and comparison to C5 (whenever ready, incl. link to dust studies) --> action on AH to initiate the process with Elodie and Emmanuelle
      • Gap studies would be another topic for consideration in 2024/2025
        • Start with marker tiles, then proceed to ITER-like PFUs
    • 4
Analyses of samples from W7-X experiments
Speakers: Matej Mayer (IPP), Timo Dittmar (FZJ)
      • MPG: on the agenda largely analysis of samples exposed using the W7-X manipulator, in addition to the marker samples installed in the machine
        • First data sets already available to assess deposition rates and efficiencies during a boronization
        • Next experiment to assess the CX fluxes and energies
        • Thin boron layers would benefit from further analyses --> action on Marcin to carry out first trials for the thin (10-15 nm) boron layers using TEM (FZJ)
      • FZJ: plans include analysis of old 13C results, SEM and LIDS (and TDS) of selected samples, and additional tiles for benchmarking with ERO/WallDYN modelling
        • Action on AH to arrange a separate meeting including modellers (Juri, Klaus,...) to decide on which tiles should be additionally analysed (from the top of the vessel?)
        • Further analyses of the tiles could also be carried out in other labs (IPPLM, VR, potentially VTT)
    • 5
Discussion on needs for additional analyses
    • 6
Microscopy measurements of tokamak/stellarator and reference samples
      Speaker: Elzbieta Fortuna-Zalesna (IPPLM)
      • Plans for 2023 include the following parts
        • Analyses of W7-X samples: analyses of previous tiles to be finished, new samples TBD
        • Analyses of WEST samples: priority
        • Analyses of reference layers: pending for decision on the layer characteristics, first to be produced for exposures in the contributing machines
      • Action on AH to compile the production matrix (Master Excel) once the sample specifications have been clarified
    • 7
Broad-beam and microbeam measurements of tokamak samples
      Speaker: Ivancica Bogdanovic Radovic (RBI)
      • Plans for 2023 include the following parts
        • AUG samples: analyses for the He content (TOF-ERDA) and microscale studies (micro-PIXE) --> set of samples to be decided separately
        • WEST samples: usual TOF-ERDA measurements --> priority
        • Dust samples: as discussed in the SP B.5 kick-off meeting
      • Action on AH to discuss with Emmanuelle on the He results obtained from the standard tiles
    • 8
Ion-beam analyses of tokamak samples and implantation capabilities of reference samples
      Speaker: Rodrigo Mateus (IST)
      • Plans for 2023 consist of the following parts
        • Be samples: additional analyses of samples produced in 2021/2022 for the Raman studies (Be+D with different annealing temperatures) --> action on AH to arrange a set of references
