Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Q. I only start my grant on 1 July 2025. When can I start organising the trip?
Please discuss with your employer the organisation of the trip to Garching. You can submit the IMS mission application as soon as you get your EUROfusion IMS account. This can take place after 1 July 2025, but before the travel to Garching.
Please arrange the mission with your institute (flight/train, accomodation, health travel insurance - if not automatically covered by your national/work insurance, how food & drinks will be reimbursed).
Apply to an IMS & IDM account at EUROfusion.
Q. I am in Garching. Do I need to make an IMS mission application?
No, you don't need to make an IMS mission application. Please just fill out the questionnaire that our colleague, Stefanie Schlatt has circulated so that we know that you will attend.
Q. Will there be remote participation option? Will the presentations be recorded?
Yes, there is remote participation option for the talks and the talks will also be recorded and available on the EUROfusion Grants SharePoint site.
Q. Where to have lunch/snack/coffee/tea?
We will reserve tables at the IPP cantine (C2 building). The cantine offers
- from its cafe: sandwiches, pastry and sausages as well as snacks, coffee, tea, drinks.
- from its restaurant: there are usually three dishes offered, namely a vegetarian option, meat option and a salad option.
Furthermore, just in front of the IPP gate are venders offering Chinese, Turkish cousine as well as a bakery offering sandwiches, pastry, boxed salads and takeaway dishes. A little bit further, there is a good burger place, Goldbraun, offering burgers and salads.
Excursion on Wednesday
The aim of the Wednesday excursion is for you to meet and get to know each other better in a social setting. So, we ask you to organise a programme yourself in 1-3 groups (min. 10 people per group).
- Everyone shall participate in one of the programmes. Make sure you find programmes that suits everyone (mobility, interest, accessibility).
- It should take place on Wednesday. You have a full day to enjoy Munich and its surrounding area.
- Take photos and report to us in the following days.
Munich offers many great opportunities both in its center as well as in its surroundings (e.g. the Munich city transportation system can take to multiple lakes, hikes, breweries in the city surroundings, as well as in the city center e.g. Olympiapark with the BWM museum, Deutsches Museum, Englisher Garten, Pinakotheks and the Lenbach House).
Biergarten (beer garden) dinner
This will likely take place in Garching center on Monday evening.
