General:

  • FP10 Working Group Update, including possible future discussions on inertial confinement depending on the yet to be presented European Commission Strategy document.
  • SNE letters sent to F4E
  • News items:
    • On the JIFS is expected from the communication team.
    • W7-X campaign start announcement to be published within two weeks.

  • Databases are now available on the new gateway. [It was confirmed after the meeting that the responsible officers remained the same as under PrIO]

WPTE:

  • TCV and WEST are in operation
  • TCV Heating limited (1 NBI + 1 Gyrotron); plan for second NBI to be back online in November.
  • AUG and MAST-U on engineering break; ASDEX to restart plasma operations in November.
  • Review meeting on 22nd and 25th of September; call for participation to EU devices planned for November (GPM tentatively scheduled for calendar week 46).
  • EUROfusion call for JT-60SA OP2 participation to be released around October.

WPPWIE

  • JET sample transport to Romania blocked at customs due to a longer-than-expected list of radioactive elements; samples returned to UK.
  • Most JET tiles are below critical levels for large transport containers; only one tile requires large containers.
  • ITER expressed strong interest in EUROfusion’s experience transporting nuclear materials, for their own safety case and hot cell minimization planning. A Lessons Learned report is being prepared.
  • Many ITPEA presentations (next week) from the PWIE program.
  • A joint TE-PWI half-day workshop on tungsten sources, influxes, and migration is being tentatively planned for October.

WPSTEL:

  • First week of commissioning successful: pellet injection with improved confinement, higher temperatures, stable operation, ICRH working well following improvements made between campaigns.
  • Issue regarding 30k€ mission funds to be escalated.

WPTM:

  • Xavier is attending the IMEG meeting at ITER (3 days); Frank and Denis attending remotely.
  • Update on TSVVs and most have planned their general workshops for the year.
  • ACH training invitation received (end of September/early November); will cover IMAS, gateway access, and long-term data storage. Gloria to attend personally.
  • Planning for 2027 resource review will begin in upcoming meetings.

WPSA:

  • Installation of divertor VUV spectrometer and Thomson scattering diagnostics mostly complete.
  • Calibration time for diagnostics is critically short; validation may extend into or after the campaign.
  • Divertor cryo-pump and two MGIs are installed; MGI commissioning plan not yet available.
  • Remote access/maintenance for hardware systems is formally agreed but implementation is slow.
  • Experimental campaign confirmed until June.
  • Next technical coordination meeting scheduled for mid-November (16/11-20/11) in Naka.
  • WPSA task monitoring meeting planned for end of September/October.
  • Pellet system tender ongoing; TPCI (EPFL) sending last component before end of month.
  • Growing demand for real-time control expertise at JT-60SA and planning for future contributions. There are already ongoing activities on this topic led by EPFL and CREATE.
