SP B.4 kick-off meeting 2022

Europe/Berlin
    • 1
Welcome and news from WP PWIE
Speakers: David Douai (CEA), Michael Reinhart (FZJ), Sebastijan Brezinsek (FZJ)
    • 2
Overview of SP B and SP B.4 in 2022
Speaker: Antti Hakola (TEKES / VTT)
    • 3
      Status of sample production matrix
Speaker: Antti Hakola (TEKES / VTT)
    • 4
Production and characterization of Be reference coatings
      Speaker: Dr Corneliu Porosnicu (IAP)
      • Be based coatings according to the matrix
        • Nov 21-Feb 22: Be with high H/D gas contents
        • Feb 22: Be+O with varying D contents
        • Jun 22 (due): next block in the matrix, Be + D at diff. temperatures
      • Next production rounds will start in April
        • Details of the FZJ wishes to be discussed --> action on Marcin to contact Miro for details
      • Old batches from 2020 still pending for shipment
        • These are important samples --> to be taken onboard, action on Bobi to send the list to AH and we'll see what to do, when and where

Production and characterization of W reference coatings
      Speaker: Dr Eduard Grigore
      • Production of W samples
        • already done in 2021: W, W/Mo, and W+He coatings
        • to be done in 2022: W+He+D, W+Ne+D, W+O+D coatings
      • Status: W+He+D, W+Ne+D samples ready and characterized
      • Question by Vinko: possibility to separate D and He by TDS? Not possible! And also GDOES results are indicative
    • 6
Production and characterization of W reference coatings
Speakers: David Dellasega (ENEA), Prof. Matteo Passoni (ENEA)
      • W samples for SP B.1 and SP X.2
        • SP B.1 samples: substrates now ready for film deposition (foreseen into April); now HiPIMS being used besides PLD; waiting for PSI-2 substrates from FZJ --> action on Marcin
        • SP X.2 samples: all basically done, except W+ N + O
      • Also producing W protective coatings for PRD purposes --> possible synergy from the physics point of view later on (but the work anyway is at this stage separate)
    • 7
Raman measurements of the produced Be and W samples
      Speaker: Dr Cedric Pardanaud
      • Raman of Be+D and Be+H samples --> comparison between RT and different annealing temperatures
      • Batches received from Bobi just recently, D2 peak can be identified, some differences in spectral shape between D and H containing samples visible!
      • SEM shows blisters (or something) on the surface but smaller than in past samples --> may influence the Raman results as well?
      • Raman of W+O samples from ENEA, oxides visible; which fraction is in the form of oxides and which is "free" oxygen
      • Very interesting to see progress in this task in midterm meeting!
    • 8
TDS and XPS measurements of the produced Be samples
Speakers: Dr Matjaz Panjan (JSI), Vincenc Nemanic (JSI)
      • TDS: heater broken --> sub-task in hold until new one purchased
      • XPS: review of results from last-year exercise of Be-D samples (surface pattern), now also sputter depth profiles available (down to ~20 nm) --> now O profile nicely visible
      • For other samples all elements of interest (metallic impurities) would be nice to have been profiled, depth depends on the sample type...
